Genealogical Vacation!
In case you haven't noticed, I tend to post to procrastinate. What better time to procrastinate than during the week when you you go on vacation and your trip is bumped up leaving you less time to clean and pack etc. I was supposed to leave Friday morning 6am.... unfortunately Tropical Storm Irene had other plans. So my mom and I are going to try and leave Thursday morning.
Moving right along... my trip is to Pennsylvania and, whilst enjoying good food, amusement parks, and family, I want to do at least an itty bitty tiny bit of research. Ok mostly cemetery photography. All of these cemeteries are in Northumberland County. Here is a list of the ones I plan/ hope to visit:
Shamokin Cemetery
Saint Stanislaus Cemetery
Presbyterian Chapel Cemetery
Pine Hill Cemetery
All Saints Cemetery
Jacob's Church Cemetery
Two extras are Rush Presbyterian/ Baptist Cemetery and the Lantz Emmanuel Cemetery.
Now, time to do a public service. This is for anyone looking for any of the sixty some people buried at the Presbyterian Chapel Cemetery. If you've googled it, like me, you will find... nothing. at all. except maybe this blog post and findagrave.com which does not help. Fear not! For I have discovered where it is!
After endless google results coming up empty, I got the bright idea... Hey! Why not check ancestry.com's message boards! It seemed so obvious. So here it is.
Presbyterian Chapel Cemetery is located 2.5 miles outside of Elysburg, Pa. It is off of Snydertown Rd. Traveling down the road you pass an industrial park on the left, keep going. There will be a bible church and semi modern home next to it with a driveway and grove of trees between. The cemetery is apparently in that grove. Lambert Pitner, his wife Elida Farley, and their daughter Nancy Pitner Persing are buried in that cemetery. Not sure who else is, but thats all listed on findagrave.com
When I return I will have more blog posts with the cemeteries and pictures of people buried there. Now I'm not just going to take one picture of the sign and then the headstones. No no, that's not how I work. I'm going to do this as if it were... a crime scene. Hey, I have no job offerings so I have to put my degree to use some how. Crime scene photography includes overall photos, or 360 degree shots, as well as progressive shots from far away, to middle ground, and finally close ups. That way if anyone reading would like to visit those cemeteries they can have specifics instead of just wandering blindly. Eventually the photos will go on to findagrave.com but this is quicker for now.
This will probably be my last post until after vacation (unless I find something really REALLY exciting and just cannot help myself. Note, any such post will be very short as I am still debating taking my laptop with me and will only have iphone and nook. le gasp!)
(Side note: is genealogical even a word? Or am I just making stuff up? No red spell check line so I assume I'm ok.)

Farley Family Part 2
Last time I posted about the Farley family I left off with George's parents Jane Hungerford and Thomas Farley.
I'll get to the Hungerford's later
This part of my tree gets relatively messy. I think at one point I found Fabyan Farley (a brother of Thomas) married to Jane Hungerford. I was going insane because I kept finding Jane married to two people. It turns out that there were TWO Jane Hungerfords and they were cousins. They married 2 Farley brothers Thomas and Fabyan. They both had sons that immigrated to America. One in Mass. and one in Jamestown. Read that on an ancestry.com message board.
Now I really hope I have the right one for this. Either way the Farley side will be the same, and the Hungerford side will not be far off.
Thomas Farley was born in 1570. His parents were Reginald Farley and Barbara Hastings. Reginald was born aroung 1530 and Barbara about 1532.
Reginald's parents were Richard Farley and Joan Eausham. Richard's father, John Farley, was born around 1465
So now we're into the 1400s and thats all the Farley family on my tree. Phew.
Story time! There are a lot of websites that pop up if you type in Farley family. Trust me I just did that to refresh my memory.
"This story has a very ancient setting in the fair land of Normandy. Later it traverses the channel to the shores of England where for centuries, during the Middle Ages, members of the House of Farley contributed to the progress and well-being of the Norman princes who established themselves at the coming of William the Conqueror. "
And looking through some of these sites I'm thinking my ancestor is Fabyan rather than Thomas. Like I said, this is all very confusing.
I'm also posting a link to Farleigh Castle although I think it has more to do with the Hungerfords than Farleys...
Thats all for now. Later genealogy peeps!

Poland Summary and Coming Attractions
Ok so my main focus in my genealogy search is my great grandfather's relatives. The ones that were in the pictures I posted. This is what I know (mini repeat of a former post)
My great grandfather- Louis/Ludwik Bieda had a brother Walter...
Walter + Anna?
-Wanda + ? - surname would have changed from Bieda. Hence the brick wall...
--Jerry the aerospace guy + Barbara
---Adam... he would be about 43/44 years old now.
They were in Krakow Poland and near Wawel Castle and Tyniec Abbey.
If anyone has any tips on how to find these people please let me know!
Things to come...
The Farley family and Hungerford family. These will take up several posts. At least one for Farley and two or more for the Hungerfords. The first of these posts will hopefully be within the next week or two...
Sometime soon(ish) I'd like to make up and post a list of famous/ interesting people that I'm related to. Geni.com has profiles of such people and you can check out those profiles and see if you are connected to them. right now I'm in the "big tree" meaning I'm connected to almost 52 million other profiles.
Anyway what I'm gettin at... if I post the names and then readers know that they are related to that person then we'll be connected. Just a though. It happened for me on twitter recently.
I have a few others from previous posts, but I'll deal with that sometime later...

Farley Family Part 1 (aka Caleb & George)
Ok so in a previous post I mentioned that Lambert Pitner married Elida Farley and that this was a really cool connection. I'm going to post some Farley information, at least as much as I can before my brain starts to hurt.
Elida Farley: 1761- 1823 She had approximately 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Once again, not listing siblings unless something interesting pops up. But I will say that two of her brothers were named Caleb and George. This is just to confuse you later on.
Her parents were Catherine Gray and Caleb Farley. I have nothing on Catherine Gray.
Caleb Farley: 1719-1802 From my Geni tree it shows he only had one sibling. That seems odd for that time period though. Oh well.
His parents were Feminitie Teunison (no idea how to pronounce that) and George Farley. Once again no information on the mother.
George Farley: 1687-1720 George had several brothers and sisters... one brother was named Caleb. Seeing a pattern here? No? you will.
George's parents were Sarah Godfry and Caleb Farley... ahh now you're getting it. Crazy right?
So this time I actually have info on the mother. She lived between 1664 and 1704. Her parents were John Godfry and Mary Cox.
-John's parents: William Godfry b. 1610 and Margaret Webster b. 1609
-Mary's parents: Alice Wise b. 1620 and Moses Cox b. 1594 (seems like an iffy age difference to me but oh well...)
Caleb Farley: b. 1667 had a brother named... you guessed it George.
His parents were Caleb Farley and either Lydia Moore or Rebecca Hill. Caleb must have married twice but I'm pretty sure the mother was Rebecca Hill.
Looking at the Hill side it seem's pretty extensive. It will probably require its own post. It involves surnames like Toothaker Flamock and Fauntleroy. Yeah, gonna deal with that one later.
Ok so Caleb was born in 1645. His parents were Beatrice Snow and George Farley. George also had a second marriage but not gonna touch that either.
George Farley 1615-1693 He was the son of Jane Hungerford and Thomas Farley (Finally another name!!!)
George was born in England and died in Massachusetts.
Since there are still several generations of Farleys, and we only touched on one Hungerford out of a zillion that discussion will have to wait for another day.
Once again if you have any comments suggestions or recognize any names in this post or any others please please please let me know! Thanks!

Procrastinate Much?
Wow... last time I posted was Festivus. Holy crap. I failed. I'm sorry to anyone who actually reads my blog. I did notice on my stats page that I have some visitors from overseas. Thats exciting. I appreciate you randomly stumbling upon my blog.
Ok moving on.
I was getting bored with the Lantz line. I'm going to save Martz, Sigfried, and Kraybill for another time. I'm not prepared to write about them yet and I'm not mentally organized for that. I've been focusing on the Pitner side so... thats what I'll start on today.
Quick recap. My grandfather's mother was Eleanor Hauck, daughter of Marion Hauck and Ruth Pitner.
Ruth's parents were John Pitner and Ellen Kase (oh dear... another huge branch...). They had several children (looking at my ancestry.com tree and not sure of its accuracy at the moment), one was named Harriet and she was a teacher. She never married. I saw one of her History books and I thought it was really strange.... it didn't have anything about WWI WWII etc... and then I realized wait... she was born in 1885...
So skipping over the Kase branch for now and moving farther up on the Pitner end....
John's parents were Abner Pitner (b.1814) and Mary Kipp
Abner's parents were John Pitner (yep, starting to repeat names now) and Mary Tomlinson . Interesting fact. John had a sister named Nancy. Nancy married William Persing. Might have to go back a few entries but you will find that William had a brother named Jacob... and Jacob was my fourth great grandfather. Now that I've completely confused you, I'll say that Nancy was my sixth great aunt, and the wife of my fifth great uncle.
If anyone followed that, high five.
John Pitner (1787) was the son of Lambert Pitner and Elida Farley. This is a really important connection. Without this.... my family wouldn't be half as cool as it is. Lets put it this way. Without the Pitners and the Farleys... I wouldn't be connected to 50 million profiles on Geni.com.
Little story on Lambert (ish) then finishing up the Pitner line.
Lambert served as a captain in the Revolutionary Army. His family lived on the Delaware and this the Brit's weren't very nice. When his sister Sarah was about 3 or 4 yrs old the Brits came in the house, threw her across the room and took the bedding (She was ok). Also one of the soldiers said they would burn down the house... but the guy above him was like... stfu *arrest*. This guy seemed... nicer I suppose. He put a guard around the house and threatened anyone who made a similar attempt. The guy said to Mrs. Pitner (mother of Lambert) that they only wanted her son "but as they could not get him, they would take what bedding and linen they wanted to dress their wounded" She said she hoped her son "would give them occasion to use it."
I think thats a pretty kick ass story. It wasn't really about Lambert but hey. Females don't get enough credit back then.
Lambert's parents were Hendry Pitner and Deborah Lambert (woo hoo for kick ass 7th great grandmothers!)
Deborah's father was Michael Lambert
Hendry's father was Johannes Gaspar (love that name) Pitner
His mother was Anne M. Pitnerin.
There you have it. The Pitner family.
Next time... I'm not sure how I'll organize everything but Farley eventually leads to Hungerford which eventually leads to all sorts of royalty. Which is pretty cool. I might only get to the Farley's. Who knows. Theres a lot of back and forth name repetition which drives me INSANE!!!!
I'm not sure how often I'll be able to post... school has started again and it's my last. semester. EVER. I have an internship 2 days a week (9 hrs+ per day) class 2 days a week, 2 online classes and work 2 days a week. That leaves me little room for sanity at this point. I'm currently procrastinating on a quiz (hey give me a break its due tomorrow at midnight). So whenever I post, I'm most likely procrastinating.
Oh one more thing... Please leave comments if you recognize the posts in this entry or any of my previous entries!! Thanks <3
